This yarn is a little like a mini rope. It’s made of 8 20’s NM spun sliver threads, 4 pairs of 2 S-twist plies themselves then plied with a Z-twist to make a very strong and hard wearing yarn.
It’s phenominally soft to the touch, and handles beautifully. As a well plied yarn, it resists pilling, so it’s ideal for garments that will see a lot of movement & friction in wearing & the fabric it makes flows beautifully.
Manjula means “Beautiful”, which is a very appropriate name for this yarn!
Recommended Needle/Hook: 4mm-5mm.
It also works well in hand embroidery, being very comparable in size and hand to Perle3 cotton.
A fine example of this yarn knitted up can be seen on Ravelry, as knitted by MagicalMinatures. The pattern is the Holden triangular shawlette.
